Ama-Gi Gałecka

Painter, illustrator, sculptor, poet, art theoretician, born in 1992 in Warsaw.
Ama-gi, the artistic pseudonym that eventually became the official two-member name Ama-Gi, is a word from the ancient Sumerian language. It is believed to be the oldest record in human history of the concept of freedom. The Ama-gi pseudonym expresses the idea of optimal development of the artist based on an independent, conscious creative act. Ama-Gi Gałecka studied at the Faculty of Painting of the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw as Marta Gałecka from 2011 to 2016.
She defended her diploma with excellent grade in the studio of prof. Wojciech Cieśniewski. She graduated with excellent grade specialization in wall painting. During and after her studies she presented individual exhibitions and participated in group exhibitions. The first major solo exhibition took place already in 2015 in Galeria Schody on Nowy Świat street in Warsaw. During her studies, she won many awards, including an easel painting technology subject. She has been awarded many times for her painting works exhibited at the final exhibitions of the Academy of Fine Arts representing the master studio. In the fourth year, her monumental wall painting made under the direction of prof. Edward Tarkowski received a special award. The artist received rector's scholarships for the second and fourth years of her studies. In January 2017, the Amor Vacui solo exhibition was held in New Atelier Design at ul. Wilcza in Warsaw summarizing all her artistic achievements so far.
The artist takes the floor at Polish National Scientific Conferences, delivering papers on expanding the existing field of interpretation of selected works by adding a philosophical context. She is the author of scientific articles, such as "Echoes of memory mechanisms in Polish contemporary art" and "Transmission of the idea of nothingness in the visual arts of the twentieth century", among others. He is working on the poetic project "Inny Świt"(Another Dawn). Her works are included in the collection of Ranita Sobańska (director of the creative global brand 4F, an international fashion designer published among others in the pages of British Vogue), thanks to which they are presented from 2017 on Polish TVN television in programs showing the interior of the apartment belonging to the designer.
Her series to date include Personal Logic and Gardens of Memory.
The title Personal Logic alludes to Newman’s illative sense. Personal logic is is a synthesis of the old notions of the “sense of beauty” and “moral sense” broadened by the “sense of truth”. This individualistic cognitive concept assumes that “truth mysteriously penetrates the depth of the human soul and can only be found there”.
The series depicts individual philosophical reflections, where the main idea is reflected in the composition in connection with specific portrait features.
Gardens of Memory is a series of diploma paintings, a work which is still in progress.
The title Gardens of Memory is an exceptionally capacious metaphor.
Above all it invokes the garden as a multi-dimensional wonder of space characterized by isolation, silence, light and an opportunity to contemplate.
The garden is not depicted in its clarity, which is readily available to us.
Epicurus’ philosophy of the garden understood as the philosophy of solitude is an important point of reference.
The motif of memory is an area for exploring the sensory experience, the symbols and the image of your own awareness.
